I can't move my previous chats without using a QR code on my old phone. The issue is, the camera on that phone is broken, and the only reply I received from their support was from a chatbot that didn't address my real issue. So, if there's any other method to transfer my chats without needing to scan this QR code, I'd be thrilled to hear from a real person at Signal.

It's pretty straightforward but dependable. Had a few hiccups with MMS stuff, but other than that, it's one of the rare messaging services you can count on.

Here’s the email exchange I had with Signal's customer service:

Me - I can’t turn up the volume, it’s super low.

Signal - What do you see on your screen when you press the volume buttons? Any text, images, or specific behavior? Is this issue with voice messages or during audio/video calls?

Me - Nah, the message sounds are all good. It’s just the ringing for voice and video calls that’s really quiet.

Signal - Understood. Have you checked if your overall phone volume is set high enough before the calls come in?

Me - Yeah, everything’s cranked up to the max.

Signal - Does this issue occur with every contact you receive calls from?

Me - It’s not when I’m calling; it’s when they’re calling me, right? The phone rings when someone else tries to reach you, not when you call out, since, like, forever... right? Are you sure you’re actually Signal support?

It’s got some ground to cover, but I’m already super pleased with the service. This cross-platform app supports audio and video calls, and it’s open source with solid end-to-end encryption using the Signal protocol. Plus, the call quality is surprisingly good for a donation-based company.

The user experience could use some work, but a designer would see it’s made for accessibility rather than looks. That said, the interface could definitely be more attractive. Signal remains my top choice, and I hope they keep enhancing the UI along with other features.

Even though Signal has some improvements to make, I’m really confident in their ability to build on their already fantastic product. By the way, I’d love to see an Apple Watch app! :D

It'll be great to see the Android and Windows app catch up with Telegram's features.

This is a solid app and a decent alternative to Telegram, just in case it gets banned, though I honestly doubt that will occur.
